Bandai’s RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 represents a major evolution of the Real Grade line, combining cutting-edge engineering with a return to the original Gundam’s iconic design. Inspired by a semi-monocoque internal frame structure, this kit allows builders to experience the construction of a mobile suit in unprecedented detail at 1/144 scale.

The newly designed inner frame reinterprets joint movement so that visible joint parts bend naturally, creating fluid, human-like motion—particularly in the legs, which are engineered to reflect close-combat movement using composite frame joints. Hidden areas such as joints and internal surfaces feature engraved detail, while the exterior uses a seamless design that minimizes visible assembly points.

The head unit is finely colour-moulded, with intricate detailing on the twin eyes, main camera, cheek ducts, and internal components. Panel lines are designed as functional divisions, enhancing realism, while the exterior armour blends modern refinement with classic RX-78-2 proportions. Two-tone white armour moulding adds depth and shading straight out of the box.

The Core Fighter transforms into the Core Block and incorporates newly developed auxiliary joints, enabling dynamic posing without compromising stability. An RG-exclusive gimmick allows the chest armour covering the cockpit to open and close vertically.
